Le g\u00e9notype le plus important \u00e0 l&#039;origine de l&#039;infection par le VHC chez les PWID dans le monde est le g\u00e9notype 1, comme c&#039;est le cas dans la population g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, mais le g\u00e9notype 3 est \u00e9galement tr\u00e8s r\u00e9pandu chez les PWID. Le g\u00e9notype 4 est le plus r\u00e9pandu en Afrique, se propageant en Europe, tandis que les g\u00e9notypes 2 et 6 sont plus situ\u00e9s en Asie. La diff\u00e9rence la plus importante par rapport \u00e0 la population g\u00e9n\u00e9rale est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement une pr\u00e9valence plus faible du g\u00e9notype 1b et une pr\u00e9valence plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e des g\u00e9notypes 1a et 3 chez les PWID.
