El tratamiento antiviral reduce el riesgo de CHC y mortalidad; sin embargo, a nivel mundial en 2019, solo 2.2% de pacientes con BCC recibieron tratamiento. Las pautas internacionales actuales de CHB recomiendan el tratamiento antiviral solo en subgrupos de pacientes con evidencia clara de da\u00f1o hep\u00e1tico. Esto contrasta con la hepatitis C o el VIH, donde se recomienda el tratamiento temprano en todos los pacientes infectados, independientemente del da\u00f1o del \u00f3rgano blanco.
